Music Ministry at Lancaster Presbyterian Church

We are blessed to have a vibrant and joyous Music Ministry at Lancaster Presbyterian Church filled with people who love God and love others.

Jesus is Our Firm Foundation

The Music Ministry of LPC aims to glorify God and edify His people for the furtherance of the gospel and the advancement of His Kingdom (1 Cor 10:31; Psalm 27:4). We believe that biblical worship is not merely a genre or an entertaining experience, but a genuine encounter with God that encourages a Spirit-filled life devoted to following Christ (Mark 12:30–31). God-honoring worship begins with the posture of the heart (John 4:24). When our hearts worship God, we join in the song that our Savior is already singing (Zeph 3:17). Jesus Christ is our true Worship Leader (1 Tim 2:5). Jesus is our satisfaction and delight, and we pray our Music Ministry reflects such (John 12:1–8).

Formative and Expressive Musical Worship at LPC

At our church, music is a vital part of our corporate worship, blending the timeless truths of historic hymns with the fresh expressions of contemporary praise. Each service is thoughtfully designed to include both older and newer songs, reflecting the beautifully diverse musical preferences within our congregation. We are committed to considering one another in love, striving to honor the rich heritage of hymns while also embracing the gift of new songs that lead us to exalt Christ. Above all, our priority is not style but substance: we sing songs that are theologically sound, gospel-centered, and Christ-magnifying.

Chancel Choir

The Chancel Choir provides musical leadership during all of our services – both traditional and blended. The Choir rehearses on Sunday mornings before services. The Chancel Choir welcomes all adults and youth from middle school age and older to join in leading musical worship.

Worship Team

The Worship Team provides music for our Sunday morning blended services. The Worship Team consists of rotating instrumentalists and vocalists who desire to serve the church with their musical gifts. The ensemble rehearses on Wednesday evenings after Family Night and Sunday mornings before service.

Adult Bell Choir

The Adult Bell Choir is made of up of youth and adult members who participate in Sunday services on a monthly basis, as well as various venues around Western New York. The Bell Choir rehearses Wednesday evenings at 5:30 PM in the Music Room (beneath our Sanctuary). There is plenty of room for new members since most of us did not know how to ring a bell when we started!

Cherub Choir

The Cherub Choir is our beloved choir for children and youth, and it holds a special place in the heart of our church family. We deeply value the presence and voices of our youngest members, believing that children are a vital part of worship and community life. Through fun rehearsals during Family Nights, the Cherub Choir helps children grow in their love for God and His Church, and in their confidence to lead others in musical worship. Their joyful voices often bless our congregation with special music.

Organ

We are blessed to have a stunning pipe organ which we love to play frequently in our services.

Joining a Musical Worship Ensemble

We are blessed to have a strong and unified group of musicians who lead LPC in corporate musical worship every Sunday. For LPC members who desire to join a musical worship ensemble, we invite you to contact the Music Director for an interview. For vocalists desiring to join the Worship Team, we invite you to first join the Choir for at least three months.

Please contact our Music Director, Raffi Wright, for more information: raffi@l-p-c.org

Colossians 3:16–17 “Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you,

with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs,

singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.”
